What is GAGA?
The Green & Geopark Excellence Awards (GAGA) is an international platform celebrating environmental leadership & sustainable geopark management. This initiative encourages responsible tourism and climate action, aligned with the ASEAN+1 (China) collaboration for a greener future.
Mission Statement:
“GAGA champions the harmony between human progress and planetary health. We spotlight initiatives that redefine sustainable tourism, empower communities, and protect Earth’s geological heritage.”
The GAGA Awards 2026 is officially supported by the Sarawak State Government.
Why Kuching, Sarawak?
- Kuching serves as Sarawak’s administrative centre and a key gateway to the Sarawak Delta Geopark.
- The surrounding areas offer a strong mix of geological, cultural and historical attractions.
- Together with Bau, Padawan, and Siburan, these areas showcase the connection between nature, heritage and local communities.
- Sarawak Delta’s recognition as part of the UNESCO Global Geopark network gives the destination international significance, making Kuching a fitting venue for GAGA 2026.
